As a non-profit membership-based trade association, we bring together a diverse group of Thai and international members, representing various organizations, institutes, and companies.

At ThaiWEA, our focus is on supporting our members in navigating and thriving within the unique opportunities presented by the wind sector in Thailand. We are committed to fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and creating an environment where members can collectively work towards their aspirations.

Our Goals

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Provide a centralized platform for communication and collaboration within the wind energy sector.

    • Host forums and seminars for key industry players to discuss concerns, analyze ideas, and determine economic incentives.

  • Government Advocacy and Influence:

    • Advise and influence both Thai national governments and international organizations on wind energy policies.

    • Increase negotiating leverage with Thai government agencies, regulators, and policymakers.

    • Provide input to Thai local, state, and national governments on wind and alternative energy policy and regulation.

  • International Partnership and Investment Support:

    • Enhance international technology transfer, offering advisory services and promoting investment opportunities.

    • Boost opportunities for foreign investment in Thai clean energy through prefeasibility and feasibility studies.

  • Business Development and Technology Advancement:

    • Foster the growth of Thai wind energy businesses, focusing on provincial small to medium-sized wind farm projects.

    • Attract wind energy manufacturing to elevate technology for increased electricity production at lower wind speeds.

  • Data Access, Industry Guidance, and Technical Support:

    • Provide access to a data bank for long-term reference data.

    • Offer industry guidance and technical support with a cost-effective and stable alternative energy source through data/cost-sharing.

  • Education, Research, and Community Engagement:

    • Encourage collaboration between wind energy and academic institutions, promoting research and knowledge transfer programs.

    • Produce educational media targeting rural communities, Provincial Administrative Offices, SMEs, and Cooperative Business Groups.

    • Promote wind energy use by encouraging agricultural landowners to lease their lands for wind farm development.

President

Watcharapong Khemkaew 

Watcharapong Khemkaew is a distinguished leader in the renewable energy sector, currently serving as the Thailand Chief Development Officer of Acciona Energia and the President of the Thai Wind Energy Association. He holds several strategic positions, including Vice-Chairman (Wind Energy) of RE-FTI and Director of the Thai Renewable Energy (RE100) Association. An Electrical Engineering graduate from Chulalongkorn University, he also serves on the Committee on Energy for the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

With over 15 years of experience in wind energy project development,

Mr.Watcharapong has been instrumental in the successful developed of 1,200 MW of wind power projects across Thailand. His vision is to act as a crucial link connecting entrepreneurs, the government, and local communities to unlock wind power’s full potential. He is dedicated to establishing wind energy as a cornerstone of Thailand’s sustainable and clean energy future.

Vice President

Waron Sanguanwongwan

Waron Sanguangwongwan leverages his 16+ years of experience in renewable energy development ,  to drive sustainable growth across Asia. He has spearheaded diverse projects, from Thai solar farms to Mongolian hybrid wind-hydrogen plants, demonstrating expertise in solar, wind, and other renewable technologies.

Waron's unique perspective, honed through work at both prominent Thai companies and international developers, provides the Thai Wind Association with invaluable insights into domestic needs and global trends. This dual lens informs his strategic guidance, contributing to the association's impactful growth and driving wind energy adoption in Thailand.

Nat Wongsuryrat

Nat Wongsuryrat serves as the Head of Renewables, Asia Pacific at UL Solutions. With over 10 years of experience and a technical background in Aerospace Engineering (Chula) and Advanced Energy (U. Tokyo), he specializes in driving clean energy initiatives and navigating complex energy landscapes across the region.

 

He is a strong advocate for integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance energy reliability. His vision is for Renewables + BESS to become the global power standard, ensuring security, resilience, and energy independence for future generations.

Wisa Wattanakankit

Wisa Wattanakankit is the Managing Director of Strong Engineering and Consultant Co., Ltd., bringing over 15 years of expertise in wind measurement and plant optimization. An AIT Engineering alumna, she has established herself as a trusted leader in delivering high-precision, data-driven solutions for the renewable sector.


She is committed to empowering sustainable power generation through engineering excellence and technical innovation. Her vision focuses on leading the industry in forecasting and optimization to ensure the long-term efficiency of wind energy infrastructures.

Monthira Watcharasukarn Ph.D.

Dr. Monthira Watcharasukarn is the Commercial Lead at Wind Power Development Co., Ltd. and a Committee member of EVAT. With a Ph.D. from New Zealand and extensive experience at Wind Energy Holding and AFRY, she excels in wind project development and strategic management.


She is dedicated to fostering domestic and international collaboration to strengthen the wind energy supply chain. Her goal is to establish ThaiWea as a one-stop platform that meets future energy demands through sustainable and potential-area development.

Rutchakrit Suksuwannathorn

Rutchakrit Suksuwannathorn is a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer at Mott MacDonald in Thailand. He holds a Master of Science in Renewable Energy from the University of Freiburg and a Bachelor of Engineering from SIIT. He has developed a strong professional portfolio in wind energy engineering and finance through impactful roles at Modern Energy Management and BayWa r.e. APAC. His experience spans the full lifecycle of onshore and offshore wind farms, from development through to operations.
 
He is dedicated to supporting Thailand’s Net Zero 2050 target, with a focus on unlocking the country’s wind energy potential. Through international collaboration and by creating long‑term value for communities, he aims to inspire the next generation to build a sustainable and clean energy future.

Akarit Viriyajarn

Akarit Viriyajarn is the Head of Operations at Wind Energy Holding and a Director at DEMCO PLC, with a distinguished role as an Honorary Advisor to the Senate Energy Committee. With 30 years of expertise across electrical systems and renewables, his career is anchored by an MBA from NIDA, a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering (Honors) from Kasetsart, and ongoing Ph.D. research in Energy and Environmental Management.


He is a key strategist driving Thailand toward Net Zero through policy advocacy and cross-sector collaboration between developers, utilities, and communities. Dedicated to national energy transition, he focuses on scaling wind power and updating government policies to ensure a sustainable and clean energy future for the country.

Tridti Boonyayone

Tridti Boonyayone is the Vice President of Wind Energy Business Development at Gunkul Engineering PCL. With a strong leadership background, including his tenure as a Director of the Thai Wind Energy Association (ThaiWea), he has been a key figure in driving the wind energy sector forward. He holds a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Kasetsart University and a Bachelor’s degree from Mahidol University.


He is dedicated to advancing the industry through pragmatic, data-driven, and community-aligned development. His mission is to ensure that every megawatt of wind energy built delivers reliable, sustainable, and equitable value, accelerating Thailand’s growth toward a clean energy future.

Patrick Architta

With 25 years of experience in technical consultancy, development, and manufacturing, Patrick Architta has built a strong reputation in the renewable energy sector. His work spans across Wind (onshore and offshore), Solar, and Battery projects.

Over the past decade, Patrick has focused on the Asia-Pacific region, where he currently serves as President of Renewable Energy Asia Pacific at Ramboll, a leading technical advisory and engineering firm dedicated to sustainable solutions.

Before joining Ramboll, Patrick spent many years at Vestas until 2016, contributing to projects across Europe and the Americas. Earlier in his career, from 1999 to 2008, he worked in the automotive industry in the US and South America, where he honed his skills in development and manufacturing.

Patrick is widely recognized for his close collaboration with top Thai developers and contractors. Through his leadership and hands-on involvement in operations across the APAC region, he has become a trusted and well-respected figure in the industry.

Lin Wei, currently serving as the Business Development Director at Goldwind International, boasts eight years of dedicated experience in the ASEAN energy and infrastructure sector. With a focus on renewable energy, he brings notable investment expertise and a comprehensive background in project development, making significant strides in wind, solar, BESS, and waste-to-energy projects. Lin's versatility and innovative approach underscore his commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in this dynamic and evolving field.
